Vael is Head of Community at FAR AI. Vael previously founded Arkose, a field-building nonprofit that offers free advice to ML researchers who are looking to learn more about AI safety. Researchers can request a call with Arkose, or find out about job and funding opportunities via their website.

Prior to this, Vael was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University, where they interviewed AI researchers on their perspectives on current AI and the future of AI. They completed their PhD in Tom Griffiths’s Computational Cognitive Science Lab at UC Berkeley.
