Vael is the Head of Community at FAR AI. Vael also runs Arkose, a field-building nonprofit with the mission of improving the safety of advanced AI systems to reduce potential large-scale risks. Previously, Vael was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University, where they interviewed AI researchers on their perspectives on current AI and the future of AI. Before that, they completed their PhD in Tom Griffiths’s Computational Cognitive Science Lab at UC Berkeley.
